WOT NO HOSPICE ?

WHAT, NO HOSPICE ? We did our sums in the late’90s and it became obvious that the overheads of running a hospice are far greater than those involved in bringing care to the patient’s home at the end of life. Spain’s Ministry of Health is of the same opinion.

In October 2007 one local hospital went on the record as saying that there was an 80% reduction in their costs if they freed a hospital bed by attending a dying patient at home. We are not surprised, and are focussing on Home Care for the terminally ill.

The majority of our patients are cancer sufferers for whom there is no hope of a cure. We are equally ready to work with sufferers of any other disease for which no cure is yet available,  subject to availability of funds and suitably qualified staff.

WHEN DONATIONS PERMIT we hope to provide scholarships for people who wish to obtain qualifications in care for the dying and cannot afford to do so without our help,
